A shopfront on a busy road cannot close for the scaffolders. This is how we approach shopfront and signage scaffolding on MG Road, and what to plan before you book.
The MG Road job
On MG Road we put up access scaffolding for shopfront and signage work. The structure was set up so the shop could keep its entrance clear while the boards and frontage were being done.
What makes shopfront work different
A shopfront job is public. People walk past it, the shop stays open behind it and glass, boards and cladding sit right next to the scaffolding. The structure has to be stable, neat and positioned so it does not damage what it works around.
Plan these before you book
- Height and width of the frontage, and any projecting boards or set-backs.
- The work: sign installation, painting, cladding, glass cleaning or repair.
- Space on the street side. Footpaths and shop entrances may need to stay clear, and local permissions may apply.
- Protection. Glass and finished surfaces need clearance from the tubes and clamps.
- How long. A signage change is a few days; a full façade job usually runs on a monthly rental.
MS scaffolding or an aluminium tower?
For a full frontage, MS scaffolding follows the shape of the building and carries the load for longer jobs. For a quick signage change at a lower height, an aluminium tower with outriggers can be quicker. We will tell you which suits your job.
Other frontages we have done
We have also scaffolded a mixed-use building elevation in Rajajinagar, following the shape of the frontage.
